Advising
MECHATRONICS ADVISING PROCESS - New Freshman Students
- Register for courses during your selected Academic Advising & Course Registration
session. You should be taking the following courses in your first semester:

- CHEM 105: Introduction to Chemistry
- COMP 121: Introduction to Programming in C for STEAM
- EMEC 101: Introduction to Engineering
- ENGL 105: Composition & Rhetoric
- MATH 150: Calculus I

- At the beginning of the semester, schedule an advising appointment with both the Faculty Advisor and the Academic Advisor. During your advising appointment, the
advisor will develop a 4-year academic plan with you.
- To schedule an appointment with the Faculty Advisor, Dr. Bahareh Abbasi, email bahareh.abbasi@csuci.edu.
- To schedule an appointment with the Academic Advisor, Hannah Smit, log on to Dolphin Navigate
- In the Spring semester, schedule an advising appointment with the Academic Advisor to discuss taking summer classes at your local community college and update the 4-year academic plan accordingly.
- In your Sophomore/2nd Year, meet with both Academic Advisor and Faculty advisor again to discuss your academic progress and to ensure you are still on track to graduate.
MECHATRONICS ADVISING PROCESS - New Transfer Students
- Register for courses during your selected Academic Advising & Course Registration session. The Academic Advisor and Faculty Advisor will provide you with course recommendations that you can enroll in based on what you have taken at the community college and/or another 4-year institution.
- At the beginning of the semester, schedule an advising appointment with both the Faculty Advisor and the Academic Advisor. During your advising appointment, the
advisor will develop a 3- or 4-year academic plan with you.
- To schedule an appointment with the Faculty Advisor, Dr. Bahareh Abbasi, email bahareh.abbasi@csuci.edu.
- To schedule an appointment with the Academic Advisor, Hannah Smit, log onto Dolphin Navigate

Continue following your four-year academic plan each semester.

Schedule advising appointments before course registration each semester if:

You are considering adding or dropping classes.

You need to adjust your plan based on your progress.

Meet with both your Faculty Advisor and Academic Advisor to review your progress and confirm that you are still on track to graduate.
