COMP/IT 492  1-3 units

Students can propose an internship to the Computer Science Outreach Coordinator with an email no later than 30 days before the first day of the targeted semester. The email should include:

  • name and contact information of employer (if available)
  • name and contact information of supervisor (if available)
  • expected number of hours per week
  • expected activities and outcomes
  • expected semester and start/stop dates

The employer will be contacted by the Outreach Coordinator for confirmation. The student and the Outreach Coordinator will decide on the number of units (typically 3 units for 20 hours/week) and will forward the proposal to the Computer Science Program Chair for approval.

If approved, the student will be issued a permission number to register for a section of COMP/IT 492.

An off-campus liability form must be completed by the student before the first day of the semester.

The student must submit periodic progress reports including a final report.

The employer must also provide indications of student progress at mid-term and at the end of the semester.

The student's final grade will depend on these reports.
