  • The Programming Guru Contest will be held on Friday, May 5, in SIE 1222 starting at 4pm. Come challenge your programming skills against six problems hand-crafted by CS faculty! Prizes to be awarded for first, second and third place finishers.

  • Prof. Thoms' co-authored paper, “Online Social Networking Software as Ad-Hoc Project Management Software in Capstone Project Courses,” was published in the December 2016 issue of International Journal On Advances in Intelligent Systems.

  • Prof. Thoms, along with student researchers Nicole Dubin (CI), Sara Colon Cerezo (Santa Barbara City College) and Rafael Hernandez (Oxnard College), had their paper abstract titled, “Introducing Speq-DB: A Simple Program for Enhancing Quality in Online Discussion Boards,” accepted for inclusion in the National Diversity in STEM Conference, Oct. 13-15 in Long Beach, CA.   • Prof. Isaacs to be the Keynote Speaker for AUVSI Channel Islands on Sept. 13 @ 6pm in Broome Library Rm. 2325. His talk will provide an introduction to the AVES (Autonomous Vehicle and Embedded Systems) Lab at CSU Channel Islands.
  • The Fall MSCS Welcome Event will be held on Tuesday, September 13th @ 6pm in Sierra 1422. All students are welcome to attend and learn more about the Masters program in Computer Science at CI. Faculty will also provide a quick overview of their research agendas. Current MS students and potential MS students are strongly encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served!

  • The CI Cyber Defense Club is launching Fall 2016. If you want to learn what it takes to stop hackers or gain valuable real-world experience securing computer networks, then consider joining the CI Cyber Defense Team and compete in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition against other colleges and universities.   • Prof. Thoms' co-authored paper, "Learning Effects of Attention Guidance in Online Discussions," to be presented at the Americas Conference on Information Systems on August 12, 2016 in San Diego, CA.

  • Congratulations to student researchers Sara Colon Cerezo, Nicole Dubin and Rafael Hernandez for their hard work during Project Acceso in June!
